FEAR NOT

The latter part of last year sent chills up and down our spine as there was an impending threat to mankind.  The Corona virus causing the disease called COVID-19.  It has flu-like symptoms that could prove to be fatal in some cases.  This incidence which originated in Wuhan, China has already caused an alarming number of cases because of its high infectivity rate. There has been dissenting opinions, misleading information that has caused confusion, panic and ultimately fear.  The growing concern now is that it has affected several countries and might infect some more if not contained and given the proper measures and other preventive programs.

Up to this time, even with a thorough ongoing research and study as to its treatment,  there is still no cure or vaccine created to arrest this disease.  Of course, there are preventive and precautionary measures that we can do to increase one’s immune system and ward off the virus.  Taking immune system boosters and natural food supplements is one significant thing we can do.  Eating and drinking nutritious food and beverages, having enough rest and sleep of at least 7-8 hours is of great importance.  Practicing hygienic measures like the constant hand washing  before and after eating.. The use  of appropriate face  masks especially when one is more likely to have severe cough and sneezing episodes due to respiratory ailments and the likes.  The use of 70% alcohol and sanitizers are also highly recommended.  Avoid being in close contact with people who has respiratory problems so as not to get infected.  Take precautions also when you are in crowded places like malls, theatres, market and conventions.  The virus mortality rate is only about 3% but it proves to be fatal in the presence of other illnesses or comorbidities in the patient.

In the end, nothing is ever certain.  We can take all the precautions we want, or be as extra careful as possible, but nothing is guaranteed.  Only in the Lord and His Word can we turn to and surrender our complete trust.  He has saved His people before from famine, drought, floods, plagues and severe illnesses.  He has delivered the Israelites from all of these unpleasant circumstances before.  If He has saved and protected His people before, then He will also do the same for us.  He will also save and deliver us from this as well.  We only need to trust and believe.  Again, remember the Lord’s promise to His people, “Fear not…. For I am with you always until the ends of the earth.”
