In Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
This verse has been my inspiration in being part of the Sunday school. I’ve been teaching Sunday school for kids for more or less than 8 years now. And I’ve seen them grow in the Lord. I’m so much blessed and happy that somehow I’ve been part in their childhood Christian journey. I am confident that in the future the seed that was planted will grow and be useful for our Lord’s kingdom. Now as I continue my service in the ministry, I felt the need to be more devoted. My conviction is to dedicate more time to the ministry, even though I have lots of overtime in my work. Sometimes stress just overwhelms me on Sunday mornings when I teach, (because of overtime) but these bunch of kids just make me laugh. They throw jokes at me and I can’t help it but laugh. They ask me questions out of nowhere and even caught me off guard. Their smiles just take my stress away. These kids, young and innocent in their own way taught me to be happy, humble and to live a simple and yet meaningful life. That life is too precious to waste in anger and hatred. They teach me to love them despite of the imperfection. I’ve seen them changed as they grow. They become more mature in the Lord. They pray in class. They sing praise and worship to the Lord so openly. They answer my questions that sometimes, with answers that I don’t expect. They are active in class discussion. They are even happy to give their offering. They tell me stories of their testimonies that have blessed me much.
In Psalms 8:2 the Lord has ordained the lips of children and infants to sing his praises to silence the enemy. God can use little children for His glory and I will continue to teach them His ways where even in their young ages, they will be great instruments for God’s glory.
The Children Ministry is in need of more teachers and I hope that God will touch your hearts to join us in the service to the little children because they are very special in His heart.
